Capturing your bump is all about your comfort! I usually find a nice time is around 7-8 months. You'll find you're still quite comfortable and moving around during the session won't be too tiring for you. However saying all that, I have photographed women much earlier and later in pregnancy, it is your call. Just try not to leave it too late in case unexpected weather (or a surprise arrival) mess with your plans. I do book out sometimes a month or so in advance so best to get in touch as soon as you can.

I can capture beautiful images of your baby at any stage, but if you're after that really sleepy, cuddly look then you want to photograph your new bub as soon as possible. I usually recommend 7 - 10 days. It may sound overwhelming but it really doesn't have to be. Your session will be in your home and I aim to make it as relaxed as possible. I allow plenty of time for your session so if you need to stop and feed (or deal with a poonami) there is no rush from me.
-
Firstly, do not panic! I am happy to chat to you about what to wear. I even have some pinterest boards I can send you for inspiration! I do have a few quick tips though.Mum - pick your outfit first. As females we are so critical of ourselves and I think it's so important to find an outfit you feel confident and comfortable in. The family can work around you!
Don't go too formal. Yes it is a photo session but keep in mind your location, it will be pretty relaxed and you will likely be running around and playing with the kids.
Wedding Photography

It can be completely overwhelming when you start to plan your wedding with vendors expecting you to lock in a package when you really don't have much of a plan yet. After you enquire, the first step (even before you book) is to have a chat on the phone with me so we can put together a rough timeline of your day. It will give you a better understanding of how you would like the day to run and a clearer idea on how many hours you will actually need. I've done plenty of these before, so I'm always happy to help you nut it all out! The added bonus… it will give you the confidence to chat about your wants to your venue and other vendors.

One of the best parts of the job is travelling to the most beautiful venues all over Australia. If your wedding is in the Newcastle/Hunter region there is no travel fee. If your wedding is outside these areas then I'm happy to give you customised pricing depending on your location.

Don't be scared to offer up some crazy ideas and random locations, that's what will make your images more unique. If that's not your thing, or you need some help, I have an awesome list of locations that we can chat about. If you’re feeling nervous about having photos on your wedding day, it’s also a chance to have a practice run and ensure you and your partner feel comfortable and confident. It can make such a difference!

When the weather throws you a curveball, there's no need to panic, embrace it! It may not be the golden sunset images you imagined but it can still be so beautiful. We can find some cosy indoor spaces with natural light or hide under a canopy of trees, there's always options. If the rain is not too heavy clear umbrellas are always a great option and if you just want to have fun with it, put on some bright gumboots.

Most couples are happy to have phone chats or meet via zoom. But if you’re in the Newcastle area I am always happy to meet you before your day so you feel comfortable. I leave that up to you, every couple is different. Keep in mind, we will have multiple conversations before your wedding to discuss timing etc and I am always available to ask any questions if you're feeling lost in the process.

What we shoot will depend on your business and what you want to showcase to your clients. You also need to think about wether it is a few key images for a website or a bank of images for your social media. I always get my clients to put together a mood board via Pinterest, this will give both of us a really clear direction on what you’re trying to achieve from the session. It’s always nice to refer back to this during the session so we can make sure we’re on the right track.

Almost everyone starts off a session by saying they hate having their photo taken. I totally get it—I feel the same way! It’s natural to get nervous when the camera comes out. But my job is to make sure you feel relaxed and have a great time. The first 10 minutes might feel a bit awkward, but I promise you’ll quickly settle in. There’s always plenty of light-hearted banter and fun conversations, and

I totally understand! We'll discuss and plan out the locations, but it's helpful to think ahead about spaces that represent your brand. Do you frequent a local café where you meet clients? Do you prefer a beach setting or a cityscape? Consider what reflects your personality too—maybe you have a favorite outdoor spot where you relax. It’s a good idea to make a list of all the elements you want to showcase about yourself and your business, and even a bit of your personal side.
-
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer here, but getting your styling right is a crucial part of a successful shoot. Clothes are a fantastic way to express your personality and what you’re all about. Whether it’s a chic blazer, a bold dress, or even playful accessories like funky socks or standout sneakers, the options are endless.
Also think about what you’re trying to achieve… a few key shots or a bank of images? The more variety of clothes you have, the more variety of image we can achieve in a short time.
Ultimately, it’s about what makes you feel confident and truly reflects the powerful business owner you are. Consider your ideal client—what would you be comfortable wearing in front of them?

Personally, I always feel more confident with professionally done hair, so I’d definitely recommend that. But deciding whether to book professional hair and makeup is a deeply personal choice that depends on your brand, preferences, and budget. If it fits with your brand and you have the budget for it, a makeup artist can achieve a 'natural' look that’s polished but not overdone. In the end it’s your call with what you are trying to achieve.
